When we moved into our newly-built rental home, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on all the contractor-grade rooms WHILE ALSO keeping in mind that I couldn’t permanently alter anything. A challenge I was willing to tackle for the sake of making the rental feel a little more like us. We didn’t have a playroom in our previous home, so starting with this room just felt right. I really wanted it to be playful and safe, while also looking stylish and aesthetically pleasing.
We are not allowed to paint any of the walls in this house, so I thought I would try peel and stick wallpaper. Y’ALL, I was so impressed with this wallpaper I found on Amazon! I’ve only ever purchased peel and stick wallpaper from an actual wallpaper company, but knowing we wouldn’t be in this rental house forever – I didn’t want to invest in it. I was skeptical, but once it arrived and I started hanging it; I can honestly say it’s comparable to the other peel and stick wallpaper I’ve used. So very pleased! I also must add, if we owned this home I would’ve pasted that wallpaper on every single wall AND the ceiling too. CAN YOU IMAGINE!? How fun.

I had a few must-have’s in mind for this room, and a tv was one of them. I wanted another spot in our home for us to kick back and watch a movie as a family (if only we could get Sonny to sit still for more than 7 seconds). The problem though? The spare tv we have is small and ugly – so I neeeeeeded to source a cabinet that I could tuck the tv away in.
This beautiful green cabinet was a find on FB Marketplace and the tv fit perfectly behind the two doors. I originally thought about painting it when I saw the listing photo, but I changed my mind as soon as it landed in this playroom. The dusty olive color went perfectly with the blues, greens, creams and patterns I had already picked out. I did change out the knobs though! The cabinet is also housing some extra toys, books, diapers and wipes – so I am very happy with it!

This was such a fun little space to put together over the past few months that we’ve lived here! I’m excited that most of these pieces will transfer nicely to wherever we end up in the future too. Sonny is already having a blast with all of his toys in one place, and I’m so pleased with how it all turned out. Shop it all below!
