If there was one thing we definitely wanted to do this fall, it was go camping. Somehow we went a whole year without it and we missed it. A lot. There’s just something about disconnecting from the hustle of life and soaking in the slowness & beauty of the outdoors.
So this past weekend, we packed up our gear (and friends) & headed east to Max Patch in Asheville, North Carolina. It’s one of our favorite spots! Since the temps quickly dropped that weekend, we decided to only camp one night & then we spent the second night in a hotel. Which I’m so glad we did, because it was FREEZING.
Max Patch is a little over an hour outside of Asheville. We were able to drive right up to the trail head, park & then hike about a mile to our campsite. It’s one of the prettiest places I’ve ever been to! It was once a hidden little destination, but over time it has become a very popular spot. But you know the best part? You don’t have to reserve or pay for a camping spot! The worst part? You’re not guaranteed a spot, so get there early! I’d recommend a solid 2 hours before sunset. Here we are setting up our camp site, and then a few pics from the next morning. Enjoy!
